We had the pleasure of helping out a church and playing at their annual Christmas fayre. We were asked and we did not have to hesitate with our answer. The church give so much to the band and we always give back what they give us. It is always a pleasure to do this for our church!
We played at around 11:15 on the balcony so people could see who was playing. We played all of our Christmas music book and the comments we had back were very pleasurable - as always at the church.
We love our church and love doing events with them!
So we were asked a month or two back whether we would be able to perform some Christmas carols for Dudley's annual Christmas switch on. We jumped at the chance because we love doing events for our local community and we all love Christmas!
We were asked the perform twice; once in the Churchill sopping centre outside Iceland and then again in Stone street - on stage! Some of our guard and percussion members took the opportunity to be part of brass and play some Christmas carols too! We got crowd appreciation too which is always nice and to hear some children singing along to 'Rudolph the red nose reindeer' made our time up Dudley worth while.
In Stone street we were shocked and some of our members went every excited when we found out that the X-factor favourite Wagner was the guest of honour and who was helping the mayor of Dudley switch on the Christmas Lights. For us this is big as he has been on telly, and we got the chance to perform and to have a chat with him.
We love our community so it was a honour and a privilege to do something like this for the town of Dudley.
As some of you are aware the band were invited as special guests to play at the Dudley Voluntary awards evening.
We opened the night with a fanfare so the awards could commence. Our trumpet players did a fine job and got some very good feedback! We then had to play our 2014 production of the wild west and we did it fine form once again. We did everything we could and the feedback we have had through our twitter account and facebook has been very welcoming and positive. We can't believe to this day that we actually performed to 300 people. It is always nice to do performance's for our local community. They can see what the Comet banding is all about.
