So this one was our show! It was on our turf, our patch, our home. We knew what the field was like and we know the surroundings, this was our time to take advantage. We had to be at The school early because even though it is our competition we had to be there to get set up so we knew what we was going to do. For the older ones we had jobs we were assigned to. We needed to be organised and on the ball. So everybody at the be at the school for 8 in the morning. So you can imagine some of our older members - looked like they had been dragged out of bed!
As the staff and supporters were setting everything up it was the opportunity for the band members to get a good hour rehearsal in on the top field. As we were marching round asking the questions, getting in that zone, our technical guy - Colin Hubbard decided he would play frozen, let it go. Well we didn't need a second invitation to belt out the lyrics as loud as we could - even if it was at 9 clock in the morning. We were happy, proud and excited for the competition to commence.
This is the one show really where our staff can't be with us for the prep talk, or to help us get ready as they normally do on a competition because running a show they get busy etc. It was up to our older members to give the prep talk while we head on over to tune up.
In tune up we were then joined by the staff as we got ready for the show. The person who wrote our music decided to pop in and offer his advice to make us better for the show and for the future. We were the ready. Comets we got this.
We marched on round to the field and the crowd was filling up - this was our time to shine and to show people Comets, from Coseley has got what it takes. We breathed, Sarah called us up and we were off - on our second western journey for the season.
It was a hard and gruelling show to say the least. It was hot and we had to really dig deep to beat the score that we set 2 weeks which was 44.60. We thought we had this show in the bag - however with some members coming off and knowing it could have gone better. It was just a waiting time to see the score what we actually achieved.
The wait seemed to have gone on forever and ever, until we were called to get ready and march on round to the back of the arena to wait with the all the rest of the other bands. This was it - Breathe, hoping and praying it beaten out previous score!
49.60 - The Comets PE! pheww! We did it, we beaten our score, ok we didn't win but we actually beaten our previous score! Well done comets. Nice summer break to return hard for the next show at Northampton hosted by Liberty!
